Life

Life is precious.

What an emotional roller coaster the last few days have been. Puts a lot of things into perspective. Be grateful for what you have, and NEVER take it for granted. Love your family with all your heart. Always be there for them. Never hold a grudge or walk away from someone angry. It's just not worth it.

All I can really say right now, is PLEASE keep our family in your thoughts and prayers (Not just Alex and I, but all the Nishijimas). We need them.

I married into the greatest family ever. I honestly don't know what I would do without them. They are my world, and I am eternally grateful for them. I can't even put into words how much I love them. I have been sooo blessed.

Meet Jimmie

This is me and my brother, Jimmie, being cool. He is funny.

For Christmas he made a 2011 calendar for us girls. It consists of his face mostly.

EVERY day has a random or funny holiday. For example today is International Sing Out Day. I bet you didn't know that. You're welcome.

He also likes to do funny things like this:

He makes me giggle. When I am sad, I go back and look at these. There are TONS more, these are only a few of them.

Anywho.... I thought I would ask Jimmie some random questions and see what his answers were. Ps, when replying to my email this was his response...

Ok, here. Please keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times and try not to blow chunks on your friends or neighbors.

He's so caring! lol

So without further ado...

1. If you were a shirt, what would it say? “GET FAT! (please)”

2. If you had a reality TV show about your life, what would it be called? “Gosh! Something Just Flew Out Of My Nose”

3. Who would win a battle between a ninja and a pirate? A Pirate, duh! They have guns and booty!

4. What would you do if you had a time machine? Travel though time...

5. Would you rather have an extra finger or having a missing finger? It depends on which finger was missing.

6. How would you react if you were transformed into a fish? It’d probably think “Dang! Either I’m a fish or just a regular sexy man with gills.”

7. If you had a million dollars, how would you spend it? Quickly and stupidly! And I probably buy a funny farm and goat cheese.

8. Is Elvis really dead? Who’s Elvis? BURN! Wait... I like Elvis. BRAS!

9. If you could speak to one kind of animal, what would it be? Womankind! Mwahahaha!

10. Do you know the muffin man? The Muffin Man? That lives on Drury Lane?

11. Who is the hottest Disney princess? Sleepying Beauty and Jill (Bonus Points?)

12. Pencil or pen? No thanks, I’ve got one.

13. Would you rather be 3 feet tall or 8 feet tall? 8 feet tall. Little people are scary and rude. And small!

14. Do you believe in fairies? No, but I do believe in Pirate hookers!

Finish these sentences...

I love... Dancing in the rain, swinging from grapevines and long walks on the beach. I also enjoy the occasional sleep over.

I don't understand... Heavy duty lard, toothpaste and Jungle Gyms.

I wish... I were a bird so I could fly far. Far far away from here.

I'm terrified of... Bananas.

Well there you have it peeps. Straight from the mouth of Jimmie.

That's all for now! Have a super Saturday!

Dear Utah,

Holy smack, you are so bipolar. Last week you brought the temp up to the 60s and 70s. I was soooo happy I could have cried. You were so nice to me those couple of days. Then shabam! It was gone. You are dark and cold now. You snowed allll day yesterday! Even with my hood up on my jacket you still managed to fling your snowflakes straight into my face and land ever so stupidly on my bangs and eyelashes. Thanks. Then I wake up today to wet, cold snow flurries which makes it super miserable to feed the doggies outside. This would be expected in the Winter, but NEWSFLASH, it's NOT Winter anymore! I'm pretty sure I've forgotten what the sun feels like. You've proven your point... you are crazzzy and bipolar. Please find it in you heart to BRING ON SUMMER. Or Spring for that matter! I'll take any sunshine I can get. And PLEASE make it over at least 65 degrees. It's 34 right now, and I'm super not happy about that.

Your angry friend,
Malisa

Just a Workin'...

Yeah, that's right... I, Malisa Rowena Rose Nishijima, have a job. A temporary part time job, but a job no less. I'm super excited! It's for about 6 weeks while a lady is on maternity leave. It's a lot of busy work like scanning, invoicing, data entry, etc. But I love it. It's somewhat stressful learning new things and trying not to mess up, but it's money so I'll take it! Best part is, Alex is watching his baby cousin (who I usually tend on Monday and Tuesday) while I'm doing this temp job, so we still have that income as well. Yay! I definitely have to get use to working 5 days a week again. It's only Monday and I'm already wishing it was Friday. Lol. But the day does seem to go by pretty fast so that's good. I go home with my friend, Hilary, (who works there, and got me the job.) during our hour lunch break and chill and eat with her. It's so fun having a friend to talk to and hang out with here in Utah. It makes me less homesick with a good friend like her. She was definitely an answer to my prayers while Alex and I were living in Layton. Anyways... Yay for work!

Ps, This also means I'll probably be blogging less. Lucky you! ;)

One of those days...

Today in church I cried. And I don't mean I felt the spirit and got a little teary eyed. I mean, I cried like a flippin baby. I actually had to walk out cuz I had no Kleenex and my nose was running like a facet, I had black under my eyes, and black streaming down my face. So here's why...

Once upon a time I had a baby cousin. When I say "baby" I mean a whole 2 months younger than me (I'm always gonna be your big cousin, Mikey! Ü) He got married yesterday in Flagstaff to an awesome girl named Sydney. Mikey is pretty much my closest guy cousin and I died a little bit on the inside not being able to see him on his big day yesterday. I tried not to let it get to me, but from the paragraph above, you can see it eventually did. I know you're asking, "Why the heck did you cry in church the day AFTER his wedding instead of the day of?" Well you see, yesterday I tried to keep myself busy and not think about what I was missing. My whooooole family driving up to Flagstaff to spend the day together chatting and witnessing Mikey get married, and I was home all day by myself far far away in Utah. Yeah, hard. So I just cleaned and cleaned and played on the computer. Well today in church a lady in our ward was assigned to speak on her daughter who is serving a mission in yes, you guessed it, Mesa, AZ. In the beginning I was actually excited to hear her speak. I thought, "Oh, cool!! She's gonna tell stories about Mesa!" I was doing "ok" during her talk. Laughing at hearing what her daughter thought of good ol Mesa and all the experiences she was having. Thennnn... towards the end.... I lost it. We sang a hymn right after she spoke and I couldn't even see the words. Any other weekend I would have LOVED her talk. But this weekend.... hard. I was just thinking.... "Wow, if I was still living in Mesa, I would have been at Mikey's wedding this weekend. I would have been there holding my little nieces and nephews and goofing off with my brothers and sister. I would have been able to hug my uncle as he called me Bubble Butt. My brother, Jimmie, brought his girlfriend and I would have been able to finally meet her. I could have danced with Mikey like he did with me at my wedding." Pretty much just one of those moments where I wished Alex and I still lived in AZ. BUT don't get me wrong I love where I'm at now, and like I said in the previous post, I've learned so much. After walking out and getting a drink and cleaning the black off my face, I did ok the rest of the meeting. I was even able to sing the last song =).

So the moral of the story is NEVER move to Utah. Lol TOTALLY JK. But the real moral is never go to church without a dang Kleenex... not good. Serioulsy. I really want to apologize to the people who had to look at my messy face as I walked up the isle out of the chapel. Ya'll know how I look when I cry.... SCARY!

Congrats Mikey and Sydney!!! I love you soooo much and I'm sorry I wasn't able to be there. Miss you guys tons. Hopefully, we'll see you soon!

Loving love

Sometimes when I get bored I like to look at pictures of when me and Alex were still dating. They make me giggle. Remembering all the times I use to get "butterflies" being around him. Our first time holding hands in church.... our first walk around the neighborhood together holding hands... when we first said "I love you"... introducing him to people as my boyfriend, and then as my fiancée... getting butterflies from staring at pictures of him on my desk at work.

I always laugh thinking back at the the time when we were at Oreganos just a couple days after we started dating and we were gonna share a pizza. So I asked him, "do you like green olives?" and he said, "yeah, sure!" So thats what we ordered. I was THRILLED that I found a guy who liked green olives! A couple months later, probably after we were engaged, I found that he HATES green olives. Despises them. The smell of them, the look of them, color of them. Everything. Poor guy probably wanted to throw up that night. lol. Now he'd be like, "Green olives on MY pizza. Yeah right woman. You wish." lol. Jk, he might be a little nicer than that (probably not tho Ü). Everything is different after marriage.

And I wouldn't change it for the world. It's a good different.

"Dating love" is great. Obviously. It's pretty much what you need to get married. lol. Those butterflies are what keep ya goin' Ü. But I swear after walking out of the temple it was like a whole new world. Life just completely changed. It took on a whole new meaning. It wasn't just about me anymore... I had an eternal companion. From then on it would be US. Anything I'd go through, WE'd go through. We're big kids now! I'll never forget the feeling in the pit of my stomach the first night Alex and I spent the night in our apartment. It was sooo weird going to bed knowing we didn't have parents in the next room. No parents to check the doors for us at night. No parents to cook us dinner. No parents to grab a bat to protect us if someone broke in. It was just us. US. It was almost a scary feeling, but also one of the best. It meant we had each other. No matter what happens in the world, we'd have each other. I slept soundly that night knowing that. Ü

When the heck did I grow up?! I swear just yesterday I was in elementary school play Spice Girls with my friends at recess. It's crazy! And somewhat scary. But since I HAVE to grow up, there's nobody I'd rather do it with than Alex. Sometime I look at him when he isn't looking and think, "He picked ME. Out of all the Utah hotties he could have dated when he got home, he only wanted this crazy Arizona girl.

Although we have to grow up and eventually get old, loving him never gets old. Just last night I looked at him as we were getting in bed and said, "We get to sleep in the same bed together, cuz we're married!" Lol. Can you tell it still amazes me that I'm old enough to be married. lol. But dang I love him. We're going through so much together right now. And I've learned so much in the last 1yr and a half or so of being married. I don't just love Alex, but I LOVE him. Sooooo deeply. Soooo much. More and more each day. I know that's completely cheesy but it's oh so true. Brad Paisley says it so perfectly in our wedding song:

"Now you're my whole life,
Now you're my whole world,
I just cant believe the way I feel about you girl,
Like a river meets the sea, stronger than its ever been,
We've come so far since that day,
And I thought I loved you then"

Well I guess that's all of my blabbing for one night. Enjoy the silly pictures of us and our "dating love". Ü

Ps, PLEEEASE don't think I'm putting you down if you are not married. I'm totally not saying that. I'm not above anyone at all. =)

Poor kid got soap in his eyes. =(
