Top 5

Okay, so since I'm bored and I have nothing better to do with my life right now (I need a baby. Stat) I figured I would tell you my top 5 favorite movies of all time.

I just want to start by saying that these are NOT in order of "likeness" at all. They are just in random order because I couldn't decide. Ü

A Walk to Remember. Seriously I NEVER get sick of watching it (although I could say that for all of the movies on my top 5). The funny part is that when this first came out in theaters, I absolutely HATED it with a passion. It came out when I was in 7th grade I think and I remember when we carpooled, if it was Serena or Alicia's mom's week to drive they would ALWAYS be playing this soundtrack in the car. I wanted to puke. I hated all the lovey dovey 'happily ever after' chick flick movies. (Reminder: I only liked horror movies up until I got graduated high school.) It was like the "cool" thing to like and I hated being part of a trend. I'm just stubborn like that. That's the same reason I've never read ANY of the Harry Potter books, Twilight books, or The Hunger Games books. Ps, no offense if you love all that, I'm just a brat who doesn't like to do it because it's popular. So anyways... I don't know when my eyes were opened but I LOVE this movie. And ps again, I DO now have this soundtrack on my ipod and it's the best soundtrack ever!!

Labyrinth. This movie is older than I am and has been one of my favorites since I was born. Seriously. When I was little, I use to make all my friends watch this at my birthday party (my bday was in the summer so I always had sleepovers. hence the movie watching). Ask my mom, Serena, Alicia or anyone. I had the biggest crush on David Bowie because of this movie. It's ridiculous and somewhat wrong, I know. Ps, I also have this soundtrack on my ipod.

Music and Lyrics. This started my crush with Hugh Grant. I wanna know him someday. Drew Barrymore really isn't my favorite at all, but she is okay in this movie. Idk what it is about it, but I love it. It's funny and cute and it makes me happy. And I mean, it's Hugh Grant... and he sings... how can you not love that?! My favorite scene is when he is on stage singing "Meaningless Kiss". When I meet him someday, I want him to look me in the eyes and sing it to me. Yes yes. Ps, guess what... I have this soundtrack on my ipod too. Ü

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Oh..... Johnny. Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. I have to admit, when I saw this movie for the first time in theaters I had no idea who Johnny Depp was. I had heard of his name before but that was it. Sad, I know. I HATE admitting that. I wanted to see it because I'd seen it advertise on TV and it looked like it was going to be a good scary movie. So my friend, Lindsey, and I went to go see it after she had spent the night at my house one night. When it first showed Jack Sparrow arriving on his little sinking boat, I was gone. He had me. The whole movie I was mesmerized by his glorious face. At the end of the movie I looked at Lindsey and said, "You're gonna hate me, but I'm already obsessed with that scruffy, drunk acting, eyeliner wearing pirate who you probably think is ugly. He's probably a nobody that they just found on the street, but I wanna wait for the credits. I gotta see who played Jack Sparrow". A few seconds later.... Captain Jack Sparrow..... Johnny Depp. Bam! I had officially changed my name to Malisa Rowena Rose Depp (in my head). I'm such an idiot that I actually went back and saw it not twice, not 3 times, not even 5, but yes 13 times in the theater before it came out on DVD. I was a sick child... don't ask. As of now, I've watched it over 25 times. I stopped counting. And yes, I do have the soundtrack on my ipod.

Mamma Mia. Even though, I couldn't put the rest of the movies in order of "likeness", I'm PRETTY sure I could say that Mamma Mia would be my #1. My bff, Stacey, and I went to see it in the theater for the first time. And let me tell you, we had NOOOOOO idea it was a musical. None. Zip. Nada. Zilch. When Amanda Seyfried started singing the first song, "Honey Honey", Stacey and I immediately looked at each other with WIDE EYES and flippin confused faces which read, "This is a musical?!" We instantly started silently giggling cuz we though, "Wow, how lame is this gonna be?! What did we get ourselves into?!" As the movie went on.... we fell in love. And I found myself crushing on Bill, aka Stellan Skarsgård. Idk whats wrong with me and older men. Alan Jackson, Johnny Depp, David Bowie, Jon Bon Jovi. Sick, I know. Sorry. I also fell in love with Amanda Seyfried (not in a gay way) also. She is one of my favorite actresses now. I saw it a total of 7 times in the theater. A little better than 13, but not by much. After the 2nd time of seeing it, Stacey, Alicia, Michelle, and I went straight to Wal-Mart and bought the soundtrack and had a dance party in my driveway (Sorry Gramma and Aunt Edith!). And yes, you guessed it, soundtrack= ipod. =)

So I know I said top 5, but it was very tough and I couldn't leave this one out so I'm calling it my "Honorable Mention". The Phantom Tollbooth. It was made in 1970 and it's amazing. When I was younger I use to call it "Milo". That's the main character's name. In fact, I really thought that's what it was called and just found out it's real name seriously about 2 years ago. It starts off as a real movie then turns into a cartoon. I use to snuggle up on the couch and watch it over and over while my brothers and sisters were at school. Funny thing is, the only copy we had was a VHS of what my mom recorded off the TV. I remember having to fast forward through all the commercials while I was watching it. For all I know, I bet there are scenes I've never even seen. You know how sometimes they cut things out to make it shorter for TV. Anyways... it's great. I haven't seen it in about 3 years and I'm hoping to find a DVD copy of it and buy it when we have more money. I want my kids to watch it over and over like I use to Ü. Sadly I don't have the soundtrack on my ipod (shocker, I know!) although I know I would LOVE it. Hearing those songs brings back sooo many memories. Ü

Well that was a nice trip through memory lane! Sorry it's kind of a long post. If you haven't seen some or all of these movies, you should! Then buy the soundtracks ;).

Peace!
