Plus, I'm a just a paranoid freak. Those of you who really know me, know that I beep my car at least 2 or 3 times before believing it's actually locked (In high school I use to lock the car THEN go around and still check every door. Sorry for driving you nuts, Stacey!) I check all my house doors at least 3 times at night (Before I was married, I use to stay up till my brothers got home, even after my parents went to sleep, so I could lock the doors behind them. My 1 brother had an issue with forgetting to lock the door after he got home and it freaked me out!). I often put one leg through the straps of my purse while we're sitting at the movie theater cuz it's a dark room and I think the people behind me can reach through and grab my purse without me noticing. Now that you all think I'm super crazy, I'll stop listing examples, I think you get the point. Ps, I'm A LOT better than I use to be. I think Alex helped calm me down or something. Lol
The reason I don't want to make it private is basically just cuz I think it's an inconvenience. Plus I hate when I find someone I knew from high school and their blog is private. I'm too much of a chicken to ask for an invite. Most likely because we weren't the best of friends, and I don't want them to think, 'Why the heck does this chick want to read my blog?' Ps, sorry if you're one of those people who thought that about me. But I live in Utah and I get super bored. Anyways...
Did any of that make sense? I kinda feel like I was all over the place.
So here's my question to my 5 readers out there... What were your reasons for making your blog private or keeping it public? What do you think?

Here's my 2 cents...I always said that I would keep my blog open to the public until I got a comment from someone I didn't know. And then it happen...some guy commented on how cute Dylan and Cash were. Um scary. Sooooo, I went private! Plus when Dylan started school I wanted to anyways, cuz I kept thinking that someone might learn that Dylan was in kindergarten, and knew how old he was, and what his parents names were and his brothers names and could easily talk to him like they knew him and that scared me! BUT I've also had some friends say that they don't read their private friends blogs because it was too annoying. So I know I lost A LOT of readers (and FB doesn't help) but oh well at least I felt better! So your 5 readers might turn into 2, lol!! At least just keep doing it for me and Keta's sake!
That's my story!
I hate that it doesn't show up on your dashboard thing when private :(
And I totally understand about the old high school friend thing... I too feel so lame asking for invites.
I finally went private because I have a crazy mom who judges :) She found my blog and was mad that I went out to dinner with my inlaws for my birthday (and didn't do anything with my own family, in my defense they didn't plan anything for me and I don't think I should have to plan my own party!!) and didn't tell her. And by mad I mean she would have grounded me for a month if I lived at home! If it weren't for her I would probably still be public.. I hate that I lost a ton of readers.
But then again I like that I can post whatever I want now that I'm private because I know that only people who know me can read.
IDK sorry it is a huge toss up!
I have a hard time keeping up with my friends who have gone private. I read all my blogs through Google Reader so when people post something it shows up there...unless they are private. Then I have to remember to physically go there, and most of the time that doesn't happen.
My theory is that people can find stuff about you whether you are private or not. I prefer a public blog. I don't use my last name, and am pretty vague about location details.
It really is how you feel about it.
Good luck on your decision.
I was thinking the same thing the other day! I think I will be going private as well, there are too many freaks out there. So um... when you do teach me how ha ha! You know how great my technical skills are :)
I was thinking the same thing.. especially since I just had a baby and now post pics of him up on my blog and such.. Also just wanted to let you know you're not the only one who puts their purse strap on their leg in the movie theatres! haha guilty.
To me privacy was more important than convenience for others--maybe I'm selfish like that. Having kids made my choice a little easier, but I totally understand what you mean. I've been back and forth with the idea, but overall I feel most comfortable knowing that I can write whatever I want and not fear that some lurker out there could come upon it.
Good luck!:)
