I'm a Utah Mormon?

Let me just start off by saying that one of my promises to myself growing up was that I was NEVER gonna be a "Utah Mormon". Never. They were just weird people. Self righteous, stuck up, "better than you" people. Well then Heavenly Father decided to send a young hot UTAH missionary to the Phoenix Arizona Mission to write, and fall in love with, marry, and yes, move to good ol Utah with. It was the hardest, yet easiest, thing I've ever done in my life. Hard because hello.. I've lived in the same house my entire life. Yeah, I still remember hugging my dad, brother, and his crazy ex goodbye in the driveway and seeing my childhood house slowing disappear in my rear view mirror to move to a brand new state, with no friends, no job, and no place of our own. (You're welcome for the long run-on sentence). Sounds like a crazy messed-up movie right? But easy, because I knew it was what we were suppose to do. Plus I was madly in love with my new husband and would have moved to Japan if he'd asked me to. And, to be honest, I just wanted to. As scary as it was, I actually wanted to move to another state and have a new adventure with the love of my life.

The first 6 months were torture though. I absolutely hated Utah and everybody in it. I wanted to set the state on fire and go back home. I was SO homesick and cried probably every night. Then... It just turned awesome. Sure, the winters can be brutal but every other season is beautiful and perfect. And honestly, just stick a coat on and get to your car quickly and the winters aren't so bad. Although, it was kinda weird adjusting to a state that actually has 4 seasons. But I've had sooo many experiences in my life that I've learned from. Events that have happened that I wouldn't trade for the world. So many different things that have led me to where I am right now. And I love my life (most days ;)).

It's SO easy sometimes to see all the negative. Everything that sucks in life. But recently, I've tried to see more of the positive. And dearly beloved, I'm SO blessed. I have an awesome life. It's crazy how much I actually love this state now. I can honestly say that it will be just as hard to leave Utah as it was to leave Arizona 2 1/2 yrs ago. (Not that we're leaving any time soon). Arizona will always be my home but Utah just might be my 2nd. =)

Funny/awesome things that have happened to me in Utah (in no particular order):
* Have a full time job that I love and work with some amazing people.
* I get excited when in March when I hear the temp is suppose to be in the upper 40s. Whoohoo!!
* Turned on the AC in my Jeep a couple days ago when it was 60 degrees outside. Talk about HOT!! Lol
* Had to give Alex directions on how to get somewhere. THAT was weird for me.
* I actually have a best friend here with inside jokes and all! Thought that would never happen. LOVE my Melanie. =)
* I wear colors besides black, grey, or dark blue. Yeah, I now wear neon pinks, bright oranges and greens, and pretty purples. Regularly too. Weird right? Pretty sure I have my new bff to thank for that. Alex loves her for it though. =)
* Got pregnant. TOTALLY JK!! Just wanted to throw ya off a bit!! =)
* I can actually watch sappy chick flicks without wanting to kill myself afterwards. Infact, A Walk To Remember is one of my all time favorite movies AND I've read every one of Nicholas Sparks' books.

Things that haven't changed:
* Still wear blacks, greys, and dark blues. =)
* Still have my amazing best friends in AZ. Love you SAMM!
* Still Mormon even though I live in Utah. Yeah, I'm a Utah Mormon. Btw, they aren't ALL stuck up. ;)
* Still spend waaaay too much money on nail polish. Yes, I bought 2 more colors since the last post. I now have approximately 66 problems.
* Still a daddy's girl. He still spoils me even though I'm over 700 miles away. And I'm still his favorite child ;).
* Still miss my family and all their weirdness more than anything in the world.
* Still absolutely despise the word 'shard'.
* My right ear still sticks out more than my left.
* Still can't spell definitely, beautiful, approximately, or disappear correctly the first time I type it.

Gotta love it!!

Have a great week!! Yay for Monday tomorrow!!

My sister had the same feelings when she moved to Utah. She moved back last year and now she misses Utah too.

Oh, you silly girls....I'm the favorite daughter, c'mon now!! Did u didn't wear any color when u lived here? I don't understand that one so much! Curtis loved living in Utah. A lot of his best friends are still there, but he just hates the snow. So there's like a 3% that we could move there, yay!
