Summertime

Sandwich, Otter-pop, ice cold water, watching Reba in my new yellow summer dress.
I. Love. Summer.
Ps,  Does anything melt your heart more than seeing this man...
...with a baby in his arms? I think not.  Oh... Chris Hemsworth...

Trees Have Leaves?!

I finally went to the dr to get my eyes checked and it turns out this girl needs glasses. (No surprise there, really.)  I picked them up a couple days later, got in my Jeep, put them on, and i was about 2.3 seconds away from tears.  It was amazing.  I had NO idea what I'd been missing.  I could see!  I literally sat in the car for 5 minutes before driving off just amazed at all the textures and colors and crisp lines I could actually see. I was taking my glasses on and off and seriously laughing out loud at the difference.  It was ridic.  People who saw me sitting my in Jeep probably thought I was just released from the nut house or something.  But I really didn't care.  Because for once, trees had leaves, the asphalt actually had a pebbly texture, I could read the "ROSS" sign on the building across the street, and I could even see peoples face's walking towards me in the car... That's right, no more looking at the ground when I walk because it strains my eyes too much to focus on their face.  Awhooohooo!

Anyways, it's pretty great.  I was actually waiting allll week just to go to church this morning because I was SO excited to be able to see who was standing at the pulpit and read the hymn numbers behind them on the wall instead of just seeing blurs.  And let me tell ya... I was about 2.3 seconds away from tears... again.

Hope ya'll had a great weekend!  Alex, his dad, his step mom, and I went hiking again on Saturday morning.  This time we went up Waterfall Canyon in Ogden.  Pictures to come.  Have a great week! =)

Our Adventure

Once upon a time Alex, his dad, step mom, and I went hiking last Saturday.  It kinda went like this...
....We started...
...Then after awhile we got tired and look a rest on big rocks...

...And Alex found a cave...

...And then Alex and his dad made it to Flag Rock before us...

...While the ladies with the special hearts took our sweet time...

...But then the ladies made it too...

...Then Alex had to take a call...

...And then it was snack time...

...Then Alex loved on his wife...

...And I was proud...

...Then Alex said 'HI!" to a group of boy scouts walking up the trail...

...And I was embarrassed...

...Then we hiked back down.  It took us about 3 hr total and it was lots of fun... The end.

Kristen Bell's Sloth Love

Watch this:

Then watch this:

I absolutely love it.  I love how real she is.  The only animal that might make me cry like this is a baby meerkat.  Or baby sea turtles.  I would probably die.

Anyways... enjoy!

You're A Creepy Midget.

This is Melanie.  She's awesome.  We're BFFs.  Sometimes we like to talk in English accents at work.  And sometimes we like to talk in our creepy devil voice and call each other midgets.

Exhibit A...

We seriously laugh our heads off everyday. We bring each other pickles to eat  (even though she thinks mine taste weird).  I like to hide her stuff from her even if it means hiding it in my bra. We buy each other cookies from Target.  We bought snails and named them Thor and Jane. We sing and dedicate songs to each other when they come on the radio.  Turning corners in the car and/or going over bumps isn't complete unless one of us screams, "Weeeee... weeee, weeee!"  We have battles with my Thor and Loki action figures at our desks.  We like to share Triple Double Melts at Kneaders.  Saying "Poo poo, pee pee!" makes us laugh out loud every time.  Waffle Wednesday at Menchies is one of our favorite guilty pleasures.  Victoria's Secret has become a sick addition for both of us.  I like to make fun of her when she runs into walls at work (which happens more often than you'd think).  I email her pictures of myself from Jr High so that she can laugh and call me ugly.

The long and short of it is that I heart her. She's made my Utah life 114% better.  She's amazing.  =)

Gettin' Down N Dirty!!

This past weekend Alex and I did the Rockwell Mud O Cross in Woods Cross.  It was my very first 5k ever and holy cow was it difficult!  The proceeds went to JDRF so it was way cool.  Our team was basically a group of 5 and a group of 10 of Alex's co-workers.  A lady he works with has a daughter with diabetes so she was our team mascot and she made our shirts as well.  TEAM PAYTON! =)

Anywho, the first 2 miles was just a normal run but the last mile was where the mud came in.  A flaming awesome mud obstacle course. It was sooo much fun, but soooo hard at the same time.  I thought I was gonna die.  Alex was in the team of 5 and his team was the fastest of all the groups.  Yeah, he left me in the dust but ended up getting a trophy for it.  But halfway through the mud part (after he'd crossed the finish line) he came back to rescue me and help me finish.  It was perfect timing too because I don't think I could have made the climb up the giant mud hill/slide without him pushing my butt up it.  Literally.

Here's some before pictures...

The classic 'Alex can't keep his eyes open' shot.  =)

These are all pictures of me being nervous out of my mind wondering what the heck I signed myself up for.

We both had long sleeve shirts on underneath our humongous shirts that Payton made because we thought we'd be cold.  2 minutes after this photo was taken, the 65 degree weather in the sun was too hot for us so we went back to the car and took them off. lol

Alex and his co-workers.

And cue the mud...

Not many 'action' shots really cuz it was hard for onlookers to get real close.  BUT the whole race will be on tv next Sunday.  We're gonna be famous!!  The pros at the race also took pics that should be online soon for us to see as well.

Us being dirty ;).
Ps, the port o potties totally completed this photo, dont ya think?  lol

Mud in my baby's hair

Soooo relieved be to going home.

I forgot to take off my toe ring?

Us =).  We made it  =).  Our only battle wounds were a tiny pebble that got lodged into the bottom of my foot during the race, and Alex got a slight sunburn on his face and neck.

So that's it.  My first 5k.  Alex's 958th 5k.  I was super excited to get my first running shirt in the little grab bags we got.  (Idk what they're really called.)  Pretty proud of myself.  We'll be doing it again in September for sure  =).  Wanna join?
